You’re Un-Stackin’ Your Load

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Quicker than I thought, I managed to package up 50 postcard packs which include 4 unique postcards based on some new drawings I’ve done for my upcoming show.

The finish on them came out really well, being 100% recycled paper and soy based inks, I had no idea how it would look but I’m certainly impressed. I will be selling them at the show but soon will post them up on my Etsy shop.

I also received the collaborative piece that I had my friend Kasey work on. I’m super excited about it and I think it’s going to look perfect in the exhibit. Can’t wait to show people. The show goes up this Saturday so in a few days following that (after the reception) I will post all of the images in my portfolio.

I Don’t Know What It Is That They Want

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Over the past few days I have been putting the final touches on my artwork for the upcoming exhibit I have at MAFAC. I’ve also decided to work on the packaging for some postcard packs that I will be selling. Each pack will contain four unique postcards based on some new drawings. I went through PsPrint.com to make use of their 100% recycled paper and soy based inks. I’m very excited to see how they turn out and start assembling the packages.

Also, check out my fine art portfolio page to see images of my past exhibit at Bagels & Brew. I will work on putting up images from my other exhibit at the Whipple Art Gallery and then shortly after that the images from the new exhibit.

Wen U Gat Time

Thursday, May 21st, 2009
My friend Eric Oss and I got the opportunity to put up a variety of our works from the 2009 school year in the Whipple Art Gallery at SMSU. It was an extremely spur of the moment show and we were wanting to do it right, and I think we were pretty satisfied with how everything turned out.

My wall of 8×10 screen prints.

I put up 9 all new works, including a diptych I had been working on over the semester: a drawing of two identical coin like objects with semi-mirrored birds. Also, Eric and I collaborated on two pieces, combining and destroying our film positives and making two large prints and then hand illustrating over the tops of them.

Back wall of the gallery. Left: my two drawings, Right: our two collaborative prints.

I wish we would have had more time to make it something we were 110% proud of, but I think the spontaneity of it made it a lot of fun. Also, after collaborating on a piece, I wish we would have done more collaborative work together, hoping we can start something long-distance in the future.

Thanks to Rebbecca Benson for helping us and setting us up for the show!

It’s my only rule, I keep it cool.

It’s not often a trip to a big city goes as smoothly as planned, but in the case of SMSU’s art club trip, it couldn’t have gone better.

One corner of the BRLSQ "We Know What We Did Last Summer" show.

I saw on BRLSQ of North America’s website that they were having the “We Know What We Did Last Summer” gallery show and got super excited. A chance to see lots of prints from awesome designers immediately got me planning a trip to Minneapolis. I brought the idea up to our Art Club and the six of us got to planning.

Art Club checking out the Groveland Gallery. The building was really cool.

We set out on Saturday, Jan. 31 to check out the Walker Art Museum, the Institute of Art, Groveland Gallery (where our drawing professor had some of his paintings and prints up) and finally Burlesque Design’s show.

I was glad everyone enjoyed BRLSQ so much, we took home some great posters and had a good time checking out their space. They are some seriously talented people!

Our day ended at the wonderful Chipotle and hanging out at the bar right across from our hotel. Colonel Preston’s I think. It was rad.

Drawing Exhibit at Bagles & Brew

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

I currently have a drawing exhibit on display at Bagels & Brew in Marshall, MN until Dec. 31. The pen and ink drawings were all made between 2007 and 2008.

You can browse the drawings in the show by clicking on the image above. If you have any questions or comments please contact me, I’d love to hear from you.

Thanks to Cat Abbott and Bagels & Brew for allowing me to display my artwork.
